Help Random Harvest Weather This Challenge

More than a market and café - Random Harvest is on a mission to create and sustain a relational local food economy. This means prioritizing people over transactions, connection over convenience, and care over extraction. It looks like locally sourced food and goods, a business created for and by our crew, a community space where we can gather, and a deeply rooted commitment to creating something that nourishes us all.

Right now, we’re facing a disruption that has taken a huge financial toll on our business. On April 16th, a tragic accident took two lives and resulted in a fuel spill that continues to affect the area. Our hearts are with the families and loved ones of those who were lost, and with everyone in our community who has been touched by this.

In the days since the accident, environmental remediation efforts have led to a detour that is disrupting the flow of traffic past our business. As a rural market and café we heavily rely on the flow of cars passing by our doors. When that flow is interrupted, even briefly, the impact is significant. During the first two weeks of the road closure we lost $28,000 in revenue. We have no timeline for when the road will open and this lost revenue is catastrophic for a small business like ours.

We’ve already launched a number of fundraising efforts to help us recover lost revenue - our Soup Nights and Gift Card campaigns have been well-received and are making a difference, but they aren’t enough to stabilize us alone. While we’ve submitted an insurance claim, we don’t yet know what will be covered or how long this process will take. In the meantime, we’re navigating a huge financial gap.

Our goal is to raise $30,000 this month to help carry us through this period of uncertainty.

Your support will help us:

  • Cover immediate operating costs

  • Continue paying our staff

  • Sustain our events and community programming

  • Stay open with stability on the other side of this challenging time

If Random Harvest has ever been a place where you’ve felt welcomed, nourished, or connected, we invite you to support in whatever way you can - whether that’s contributing to our GoFundMe campaign, shopping in person, attending one of our events, or spreading the word.

This space exists because of our community. And with your help, it will continue to nourish us all  in the years to come.

With deep gratitude,
Robin, Hillary & the Random Harvest crew
